Do you constantly have a sore throat or a hoarse voice? These are all indicators of acid reflux, but there are things you can do to help.
Eat dinner a minimum of three hours before bedtime. When you remain upright, your stomach acid and food is pulled down into the stomach. If you lay on your back, the acid will come back up through your esophagus. You give the food in your stomach a chance to digest if you stop eating well before bed.
Many pregnant women experience acid reflux. The baby’s growth tends to crowd the contents of the stomach, forcing acid into the esophagus. Stick to foods that are low in fat and acid in order to keep the symptoms from popping up. If that is not of help, certain teas will do the trick with no harm to your baby.
Stress frequently triggers acid reflux problems. During stressful times, stomach acid production increases significantly, which leads to reflux. After each meal, do something you find relaxing. Do some meditation, yoga or deep breathing exercises.
After eating, try chewing on some cinnamon gum. When you chew, it produces more saliva. The extra saliva will, in turn, reduce stomach acids. In addition, people swallow more when they chew gum, which allows any acid that may be in the esophagus to be cleared away. You can use gums that come in fruit flavors as well. Peppermint and spearmint gum should be avoided because they relax your esophageal sphincter.
